The answer to last week’s challenge is, Q: A father gives his sons 30 bottles. Ten are full of gold dust, 10 are half full of gold dust and ten are empty. The bottles are sealed and the corks must not be removed or tampered with. How can each son get an equal amount of gold dust and an equal number of bottles? (Keep in mind that each full bottle weighs 1kg).

A: Even though half the contents of the full bottles cannot be transferred to the empty ones, you can arrange the bottles so that 5 full bottles and 5 empty bottles can be given to two of the brothers. The 10 half full bottles can then be given to the third brother. This way each brother will end up with 10 bottles containing 5 kilos of gold dust.

This week’s challenge is:

Q: A woman comes home with a bag of groceries, gets the mail and walks into the house. On the way to put the groceries away she passes and looks at her husband who has committed suicide by shooting himself. She calmly continued on into the kitchen and prepared dinner. Why?

The answer along with a new challenge, next week.

Have an excellent weekend …
