Mental Floss 174

The answer to last week’s challenge is, Q: A dead body lies at the bottom of a multistory building. It looks as though they committed suicide by jumping from one of the floors. When the detective arrives, he goes to the first floor of the building, opens the closed window, and flips a coin towards the floor. He goes to the second floor and does the exact same thing. He continues to do this until he gets to the top floor of the building. When he comes back down, he states that it was a murder and not a suicide. How does he know that?

A: They couldn’t have jumped from any of the floors because when the detective went to each floor, all of the windows were closed.

This week’s challenge is:

Q: Nicole went to the police to report that someone had stolen her vintage ring. When the police got to her house they notice that the window was broken, there was a total mess inside, and there were dirty footprints on the carpet. But, there were no other signs of a break-in. The next day, the police arrested Nicole for fraud. Why?

The answer along with a new challenge, next week.

Change is accelerating and the world is shifting in ways previously unimagined. The need to socially distance along with the challenges of time, location and access are generating new challenges unthought of.   According to a recent World Economic Forum report, to be able to cope with this change, the ability to think creatively, think critically and to be able to solve complex issues are in the top 3 skills that workers will require in 2020 and beyond. New thinking is essential.

Our three primary courses do just that.

The Six Thinking Hats …Revolutionary methods for incorporating diversity of view, critical thinking, creativity and driving a collaborative and parallel mindset.

The Power of Perception …. An essential set of 10x strategic thinking tools enabling significantly better scanning, deliberation and decision-making.

Lateral Thinking …. Ways of thinking to find solutions to intractable issues through unorthodox methods or elements that would normally be ignored by logical thinking.

For details on how you or your teams can benefit from learning these unique thinking tools online, contact Frank Connolly at Think Quick on 0400 109727 or email think.quick@me.com
